How Long Does Radon Mitigation Take?

A typical soil suction system can usually be installed in less than a day, according to the Massachusetts and Maine state radon programs. Some homes take longer; University of Georgia Extension says one to two days depending on the home. Then retest: Massachusetts advises testing between 24 hours and 30 days after installation.

Ask the contractor to state the time needed to complete the work in your contract, as Missouri’s health department recommends. Massachusetts also suggests a winter retest if the system went in during warm weather, and retesting every year or two.
